Adjust a finalized payout without rewriting its history
Record a payout increase or decrease against the original closeout while preserving what was previously finalized.
Finding a wrong payout after closeout should not mean deleting the old period or recording the entire amount again. NailWage’s correction ledger preserves the original and records the difference in check and cash payouts. The owner reviews the before-and-after amounts and a reason before confirming.
What to prepare
Prepare the original period, the technician involved and the correct total check and cash payouts before withholding. Enter the target totals for the whole period, not just the additional amount. Review earlier corrections so the same issue is not applied twice.
How to use it
- Sign in, open the finalized period and choose the correction workflow.
- Select a technician already in that period, enter the corrected check and cash totals, and explain the reason.
- Review the previous amounts, differences and resulting totals for both payment methods.
- Explicitly confirm and finalize the adjustment, keeping it alongside the original record.
An example to check
Illustrative example: an original $500 payout corrected to $520 creates a +$20 entry. If the correct target is subsequently $510, the next entry is −$10. It does not add another $510 to the existing payout.
Next step
Start with a documented discrepancy and review the draft carefully. Further mistakes require a new correction, preserving the existing history.
