Split a salon tip jar and account for every cent

Calculate tip-jar shares using an agreed method, account for every cent and review the result before saving.

Splitting a jar among several people can leave a few cents unassigned if each share is rounded independently. The Turns & Tips calculator allocates a total evenly or by recorded turns. It helps with the arithmetic; the salon still needs an appropriate policy and a correctly identified set of participants.

What to prepare

Prepare the jar total, review the technicians shown on the board and check the turns for that date. Identify tips already recorded in Daily Work to avoid counting the same money twice. Turn-based weights should represent actual recorded activity rather than an unexamined default.

How to use it

  • Open Turns & Tips for the salon, or explore the public example first.
  • Check the date, displayed technicians and turns before entering the jar total.
  • Select an even or turn-based split, apply it and compare the individual shares with the total.
  • Correct source inputs if necessary, then explicitly save the salon’s daily board after review.

An example to check

Illustrative example: dividing $10 evenly among three people cannot produce three $3.33 shares without losing a cent. One share must be $3.34 and the other two $3.33 so the allocated total remains $10.

Next step

Test a small total and confirm the participants and source. The public example does not save records; a salon account is needed to save daily work.

Open the tool or explore its sample workflow. Saving salon records requires signing in and selecting the correct salon.
