Configure your salon before the first closeout

Check salon defaults before entering multiple days, especially the service split, card fees and tip payout method.

Written by NailWageĐọc tiếng Việt

One incorrect setting can affect more rows than a mistyped amount. NailWage starts with salon defaults and then applies individual technician overrides. Initial setup is easier to verify with a small example, where the owner can see whether the calculation represents the arrangement being recorded.

What to prepare

Prepare the salon name, service split, card-fee rate, fee payer, tip method and check percentage. A prefilled 3% card-fee rate is a starting value, not a claim about every salon’s processing cost. Compare settings with the merchant statement and the arrangements actually in use.

How to use it

  • Sign in, create or open the salon and go to its settings.
  • Review commission, fee allocation, tips and check/cash settings.
  • Inspect technician overrides to identify exceptions to the salon defaults.
  • Test one sample day in the closeout preview and read both technician and owner calculations before finalizing.

An example to check

Illustrative example: the salon default is a 60% technician share, but one technician already has a 65% override. Changing the salon default does not mean that person automatically returns to 60%. Check the individual setting before assuming the result is wrong.

Next step

Record the source of important assumptions and ask your bookkeeper when uncertain. Services and booking availability have separate operational settings.

Open the tool or explore its sample workflow. Saving salon records requires signing in and selecting the correct salon.
