Save monthly card-fee checks for a fair comparison

Save reviewed merchant-statement figures by month so the next comparison has a traceable starting point.

A single fee check describes one statement period. Keeping monthly history lets an owner return to the figures previously reviewed and separate higher transaction volume from a change in the effective rate. A saved, checked source is more useful than remembering that last month’s fees seemed lower.

What to prepare

Prepare each monthly statement, gross card volume, total fees and any available itemized components. Use the same definitions across months. The amount deposited after fees is not the gross card-volume input.

How to use it

  • Sign in, select the salon and open Card Fees.
  • Enter or review extracted statement figures, especially the month, card volume and total fees.
  • Save the reviewed check and reopen it in the salon’s history.
  • When the next statement arrives, repeat the same reading method before comparing periods.

An example to check

Illustrative example: $900 of fees on $30,000 of card volume and $1,200 on $40,000 both produce a 3% effective rate. Fees increased by $300, but that alone does not show a pricing increase. Comparing dollars without volume misses the distinction.

Next step

Start with two recent complete statements. Save them through your salon account and keep a separate list of charges that need an explanation from the processor.
